I hope you liked hearing about all my favorite Girlfriend Getaway Destinations. Now
I’d like to share some travel tips:

#1 Advice when Planning a Trip

Lead, follow or get out of the way. Just two people should take on the task of planning, booking and confirming your travel. Send out notes and get folks to agree prior to the trip, but you will get stuck when too many people are planning the details.

#1 Trip Etiquette Tip

Plan an itinerary, but allow anyone to deviate, as they need. People have different travel tempos and allowing people to keep their own pace is essential for keeping the dynamic fun.

#1 Airline Tip

Avoid holidays and peak travel times. Have everyone book their own air and pay on their own. Set the date, suggest a flight, but allow everyone to fly on her own schedule and dime.

#1 Tip on Getting the Best Deal

You do get better deals when booking a group. Most hotels start giving discounts at 10 or more rooms, but always, always call and ask for package pricing if you are wanting spa or food and beverage add-ons. Look up competitor resort or hotel offers and allow resorts to match or beat the price. If they are comparable resorts, they usually match the offer. Online sites will have the most up-to-date offers.

#1 Way to Find out What to Do

There is a great website called Viatour.com. On this website you will find and book city tours, helicopter tours, show tickets, sightseeing tours and just about every thing to do in a city or destination. You can book ahead, or get connected to local suppliers. All of the suppliers have been checked out by Viatour and will deliver exactly what the tour describes. The website has reviews online as well.

I love playing the “Conde Nast Traveler Gold List” match and win game each year. The magazine’s dozen or so rankings of hotels, destinations and resorts offered me a yearly challenge of seeing if I have been-there, and done-that and most importantly, if I agree with what all the editorial folks have to say.

But we all know, travel is all about personal preferences and likes. Take time to research and review your next travel adventure and invest that time into matching your preferences to the travel offering.

Travel is the only investment that actually provides memories to last a lifetime in return.
